Fundraising for DVD release of “Konstantin and Mouse”

Andrei Zagdansky (AZFilms) is raising money to release on DVD his “no-budget” feature documentary “Konstantin and Mouse” about Konstantin Kuzminsky and his wife Emma (aka Mouse).  Some of you may remember that Ycrop.com hosted a screening of the film right after it was completed to raise money for Konstantin and Emma, whose house in Pennsylvania was destroyed by flood. This time around the film itself needs our help to make way to our bookshelves. Please click here to learn more about the film and consider making a contribution.

“Far from Moscow” website

Although this map looks like Target store locations across Russia, this is about music made in the Former USSR, not discounted goods made in China.

A message from David MacFadyen of FarFromMoscow.com: “I’m writing to let you know about a new, updated website: “Far from Moscow”. Based at the University of California, Los Angeles, this is the only English-language resource for new music all the way from Poland to the Pacific Coast.

Covering not only releases on CD, but also the large number of netlabels from Russia and beyond, “Far from Moscow” offers profiles of 1,200+ artists, together with a unique video aggregator, gathering concert footage and promo-clips from hundreds of ensembles. It has already been called the “best site on Russian music” by one Moscow publication. If you’re interested in new bands, DJs, and electronic acts from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and the Baltic, we’d love to keep you up to speed; please feel free to sign up for our RSS feed. If, on the other hand, that doesn’t sound appealing, please let us know, and we’ll remove your name from our lists!”

Rezo Gabriadze Theatre at Lincoln Center Festival

Tickets for all performances of “The Battle of Stalingrad” are sold out…

“Gabriadze, whose signature work The Battle of Stalingrad, returns to Lincoln Center Festival after stellar reviews in 2002, vividly conveys a kaleidoscope of personal and political issues through the eyes of his characters, elegantly rendering their lives through his delicate synthesis of sculpture, poetry, music, drama, and puppetry.”

Russian Heritage Festival, June 2010

National Arts Club.
